The Hispanic American Medical Association of Houston (HAMAH) is a non-profit organization founded in 1990 by a group of Hispanic physicians from Houston, under the leadership of Dr. David Almeyda who wanted to form an organization that would integrate physicians of Hispanic origin, with two main goals; to become an association that would look after the needs of Hispanic doctors and become a source of better care for the Hispanic population. The founders also established a scholarship program for students of Hispanic origin continuing medical education. With over 22 years since it’s foundation, HAMAH continues to grow and hopes to assist the Hispanic community in any way possible.
